Giraffes are the tallest animals on the planet.
A giraffe could look into a second-story window. A giraffe's 6-foot (1.8-meter) neck weighs about 600 pounds (272 kilograms). A giraffe's heart is 2 feet (0.6 meters) long and weighs about 25 pounds (11 kilograms), and pumps approximately 16 gallons of blood per minute.
The giraffe has several special adaptations in order to survive. Its long enable it to run up to 37 mph (60 kmph). The giraffe's long neck gives it advantage of excellent vision.

Just like humans, giraffes have seven neck vertebrae. For giraffes, however, each one can be over ten inches (25.4 centimeters) long.
